Paul first joined Ornate Interiors 18 years ago, starting out as an apprentice after being introduced to the company by a family member. Since then, he has developed into one of the firm’s most experienced craftspeople, known for his dedication, technical skills, and love for the variety and challenge of traditional plastering.

“One of the things I enjoy most is ceiling inspections and the restoration work that follows,” Paul explains. “It gives me the chance to work on some truly stunning buildings. No two jobs are ever the same, and I’m still learning every day—even after 18 years.”

Over nearly two decades with the company, Paul has contributed to some of Ornate Interiors’ most iconic projects, including Hammersmith Apollo, Leeds Grand Theatre, and Rickmansworth Royal Masonic School. His new role will see him lead condition surveys, helping identify issues and shape detailed strategies for the preservation of historically significant plasterwork.

Managing Director Ronnie Clifford praised the appointment, saying:

“Paul has grown from apprentice to expert during his time with us. His passion for the craft and eye for detail make him the ideal person to take on this specialist role. At Ornate Interiors, we strongly believe in developing talent from within—bringing in young people through apprenticeships and teaching them the core skills of the trade. Paul’s journey shows how that investment pays off, not only for the business, but for the industry as a whole.”

In addition to his work, Paul is a dedicated football fan and coach to his youngest son’s team. Sundays, he says, are his favourite day of the week—spent on the sidelines, watching both his sons play.

His passion for heritage plasterwork, eagerness to embrace new technologies such as 3D scanning and CAD, and his role as a mentor for the next generation make him a vital part of Ornate Interiors’ future.
