Having first started working for Ornate Interiors in 2003, Joe brings over two decades of specialist experience in solid plastering. His journey into the trade began at just 17 years old, inspired by his father, a plasterer, and formally trained through an apprenticeship at JP Naughton Plastering. Early in his career, he worked on large-scale new build contracts, before developing a passion for heritage restoration work—one of the reasons he wanted to work with Ornate Interiors.

Over the years, Joe has progressed from labourer and site plasterer to foreman and now steps into a pivotal office-based role where he will be involved in the full project cycle—from tender to final completion.

“It wasn’t always easy, but hard work and perseverance have paid off,” he said. “I’ve always loved the variety of heritage work, particularly lath and plaster, rendering, and harling. Moving into this role is a great opportunity to expand my understanding of the business and take on new responsibilities.”

Managing Director, Ronnie Clifford, welcomed the appointment, stating:

“Joe has been an invaluable part of Ornate Interiors for many years. His technical expertise, dedication to the craft and leadership on site have always stood out. We’re excited to see him bring that same energy and attention to detail into this new role. His journey is a testament to what’s possible through commitment and passion.”

In addition to his professional achievements, Joe is an active community member, coaching a local junior rugby league team—a role he finds “testing but really rewarding.” He also enjoys spending time with family and friends, holidays, and the occasional round of golf.

This new chapter in Joe’s career signals Ornate Interiors’ continued investment in skilled leadership and the future of traditional plastering.
